First stop (with a few anxious moments when the driver didn’t know where it was!) was the flower market. We were all impressed by the range of things on offer – garden plants and trees, cut flowers, potted plants and orchids as well as kitchen accessories, candles and gift-ideas. A few pots, plants and flowers made it back on to the bus with us, along with business cards of places we would like to revisit another time.
Next stop was the Pearl Market and a browse through the handbags, scarfs, and of course jewellery and pearls on offer. Tired and hungry from the morning’s retail therapy, we were glad when lunchtime arrived and we were treated to a delicious lunch of Indian food at the Bukhara restaurant. Presented with more food than we could eat, we all left feeling full and ready for the surprisingly quick trip back to school!
The trip provided a great chance to meet new people and make friends, and discover just a little of what Shanghai has to offer. Thank you to everyone who supported this event and came along.
