With teams from across Shanghai as well as Nanjing and Suzhou represented, the days’ programmes were intense, with some races having up to 25 heats. However, despite a couple of missed heats, the swimmers for NAIS Pudong put on a great show over the entire weekend, breaking 15 school records. There were many students who achieved personal bests, including quite a few who swam three PBs at the meet.
Coach Cheryl Philp gave her picks for swimmers of the meet (all showed EXCEPTIONAL performances):
Saturday: Elle Tay, Juliette Le Godec and Sebastiano Castelletti.
Sunday: Alex Steel, Charlie MacDonald Butler, Aaron Yong & Amanda Yong.
wants to see the team continue to train regularly and continue to improve their personal bests in the pool.
Congratulations to Alex Steel who also became the first of this squad to break 30 seconds for the 50m freestyle. His time of 29'71 was a highlight of the meet for the Tiger Sharks.
This swim team is really moving forward and with increased team spirit and morale with our new kit colours proving to be a great motivator from the team. With an eye now on FOBISIA, Coach Cheryl is encouraging the teams to keep the intensity up throughout training sessions, looking to keep the speed and also get tighter on TT and OT's (Open Turns).
