Such was the excitement that people began arriving well before the scheduled starting time, eager to see the lighting of the bonfire and enjoy the food and drink on offer. As the sun set, the fire was lit, and DJ Alex’s selection of fire-inspired music filled the air.
Head of Secondary, Mrs Dinah Hawtree officially welcomed all along, making special mention of St James's Place Wealth Management who sponsored the much anticipated fireworks display. St James's Place also brought along candy floss to sell for charity, and held a competition to win an Apple watch. The winner of the competition, announced this week, was Gareth Ellen. Congratulations!
While Bonfire Night is a very casual event, there was still plenty to occupy everyone. Our Year 12 and 13 students sold fun glow products raising 2,350RMB to support the charitable work of the school Service Committee. The Community Group’s drinks and snacks stall also made a very healthy 4,000RMB to support their ongoing commitments to the school charities.
