The children navigated the museum well, looking at a wide range of displays and exhibits to enrich their knowledge on dinosaurs. They used tools such as interactive touch screens and exhibit labels and keys to support their inquiry. The highlight was the large dinosaur skeletons and fossils. Some students even had the opportunity to dig for fossils and bones themselves in the excavation area.
Once back at school, we recorded our experiences in a recount using photos to help us sequence the event first. The children are very excited to develop their understanding of the Land before Time in our topic lessons and the trip was a valuable hands-on learning opportunity for them!
