It was a particularly busy time for teachers and assistants in our Early Years, with some of the youngest students requiring a little extra attention while venturing away from home and mum and dad for the first time. By snack time, all of the rooms were calm with lots of happy children engaged in their learning.
Primary students in Year 3 and 4 spent part of their day examining the different styles of learning taking place around the school, noting their findings on their personal whiteboards and taking videos on iPads, as they very respectfully entered classrooms to observe the students.
Our new cohort of IB students got down to business after their IB induction last Friday, followed by a team-building rock climbing excursion on Saturday. Today was their first experience of sharing the IB Academy common room with the Year 13 students who are entering the final crucial year of their diploma course.
While the rain posed some challenges, plenty of good humour and lots of cooperation ensured a successful first day.
