In English we will continue our work on performing the play scripts that we have written, based on the different jobs at the airport. Students will also be including the jobs which are done on the airplane and drafting scripts based around this. One of the key things that they will be doing is creating their own onboard safety presentations and videoing their performances.
This week in writing the focus is still on Script Writing as students will be thinking about the different interactions there would be between airport staff and passengers. The focus will be on composing scripts which can then be performed, focusing on using the appropriate intonation and controlling tone and volume so that the meaning is clear.
In Mathematics we will be revisiting addition and the skills we have already covered on column addition. We will then continue to look at the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction and use this to check our working out.
Continuing on from our focus on decimals last week, we will also be looking at money, in particular pounds and pence. Students will first use their skills of rounding decimals to estimate their answers, then adding and subtracting money using decimal notation and the column method. Students will also use estimating to see if they have enough money to buy a number of different items.
In Topic our focus will continue to be on preparing for our Exhibition on Friday. As mentioned, in English students have been busy writing scripts for their roles as the various different members of Airport and Airline Staff. They have also been working at creating the Year 4 Airline which will be revealed during the Exhibition.
In addition to this, we have been looking at a number of different passports from around the world, identifying the key features in each, and designing our own. The students will also be working on creating a advert which communicates a positive message about air travel and international friendship. Students will be looking at all the work they have done throughout the unit to help them devise a slogan for the Year 4 Airline.
