There has been a strong start to this term for the Drama Department with our younger thespians now looking at Russian Theatre and the style of Naturalism. Students have to concentrate on trying to make their performances as real as they can. Our older students are now exploring the Surrealist theatre movement that started in France during the 1800s. This type of theatre is immersive and our theatre troupes are trying hard to create scary atmospheres in the studio.
All GCSE candidates are preparing for their solo performances that will be showcased on February 18th – all parents are welcome to come and see the hard work that students have put in to their performance pieces. There has been some fantastic work in the Drama Department from the youngest to the oldest and I can see the progress and confidence growing as time goes by.
Beauty and the Beast is moving well and we are now approaching the final rehearsal stages. We had our first Saturday morning session last week which was very productive. We are impressed with the hard work that the pupils are putting in, and also their own personal development since September. During this Saturday morning rehearsal the Chorus will be given pictures of the types of costumes they are required to source; if parents are having difficulty finding what is needed please do not hesitate to contact me and I will assist you to find the correct style.
All the details about ticket sales for the production will be released soon so keep an eye out so you can purchase your tickets for you, your family and friends. A reminder that performances will be from 7pm on Tuesday 8th, Wednesday 9th, Thursday 10th and Friday 11th March so save the date!
