As I write, Year 10-13 are back to their usual routine, albeit in a building which now feels a little ghostly. Whilst our water pressure on the top floor of the building is not as strong as we would usually expect, we are confident that, as throughout today things have improved, our facility should be able to support the return of our full school community on Monday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back. CCAs will resume, as will a hot food service, but the swimming pool for all lessons will remain closed.
I would still urge you to check the website and all other media platforms as we are aware that over the weekend the authorities are going to carry out another high pressure water delivery to test the pipe lines. This means that some pipe lines underneath the ground could suddenly encounter a burst like yesterday, and if we were in a situation with no water at all we wouldn’t be able to open. Hopefully you have had time to support your child with their learning at home and your child/children have understood this wasn’t a holiday but a learning-from-home experience.
As mentioned yesterday, our very first Temple Fair takes place this Sunday. Please do come and enjoy this celebration with your family and friends. Whether you have been in China for several years or months, Chinese New Year is a really beautiful celebration and a special time to come together in this our home from home.
I would also like to take the opportunity to wish our swim team good luck as they are participating in their first international swim meet in Phuket. Already the texts are flying in keeping us posted of many of the swimmers, not just improving their personal bests but smashing them. Go Tiger Sharks!! Finally, it’s the local match of the year tomorrow as our Nord Anglia schools go head to head and the Pudong Tigers take on the Puxi Lions in football. The standard of girls football goes from strength to strength so, if you are around, this is a great game to come and watch.
Additionally, the countdown to Beauty and the Beast is on, and the production team couldn’t be more relieved that rehearsals can go ahead as planned this weekend. Don’t forget you can buy tickets at the Temple Fair this weekend and at Main Reception from Monday break time. Introducing something new this year, the opening evening will be a formal red carpet affair, with bubbles and canapes, making it a night to remember. For our younger theatre guests, on the remaining evenings we encourage you to come dressed in your favourite Disney outfit and get ready for photo opportunities with the cast.
Once again, many thanks for your ongoing support of our school, may you all have a wonderful weekend and one which hopefully flows with hot water!!
