In English we will be looking at the different jobs we have been studying in our 'Gateways to the World' topic. As students will be investigating the various jobs that people perform at airports, we will be focusing our English lessons around this.
This week we will be looking at Script Writing as students will be thinking about the different interactions there would be between airport staff and passengers. The focus will be on composing scripts which can then be performed, focusing on using the appropriate intonation and controlling tone and volume so that the meaning is clear.
In Mathematics we will be looking at the relationship there is between decimals and fractions. To consolidate our understanding of fractions, students will be continuing to learn about the decimal equivalents of fractions.
Using this knowledge they will then go onto compare fractions by using their decimal equivalents. To help with this students will be learning how to round decimals with one decimal place to the nearest whole number.
Students will also be learning the effect of dividing a one or two digit number by 10 or 100 and identifying the value of the digits in the answer as wholes, tenths and hundredths.
In Topic we will be continuing our learning about jobs at the airport and on the airplane. This will be done through looking at the various jobs and understanding what each entails. Tying in to English, students will be creating scripts which represent what an interaction between a passenger and an airport worker may be.
In addition to this students will be learning about the various jobs on board an airplane. This would include, Captains, Co-pilots, Air Hosts and Stewards. We will also be looking at the different types and styles of safety presentations there are on airplanes and scripting and performing our own.
In addition to this, students will be working on various activities which will lead up to the Year 4 Exhibition on all we have learned throughout this topic.
