Dear Parents,
I write to introduce myself as the new Exams Officer here at NAIS Pudong. Since being appointed in May 2016, and formally joining the NAIS family in August, I have enjoyed getting to know staff and students alike. I am very much looking forward to working with colleagues, students and yourselves during this academic year to best ensure smooth examinations sessions for all year groups. I bring UK school experience to the role, having been responsible for overseeing internal and external examinations specifically at age points 11-14, and 16-18 for a number of years.
I feel it may be helpful to share with you some of the work that we have planned this year. Over the past few weeks, we have been working behind the scenes to start preparations for the Summer 2017 examinations session, including sending provisional entries to the exam boards in the UK. We are currently double (and triple!) checking all the subject specifications such that we can finalise the arrangements for Year 11 and Year 13 mock examination arrangements that will take place in the first 3-weeks back after the Christmas Holiday (Monday 9 – Thursday 26 January). More details will be shared with you, and students in due course.
You may be aware that overview timetables for the Summer 2017 examination session have been published by the examination boards. We will publish a NAIS Pudong version of this in due course, however, it may be advisable to record the start/end dates of the externally assessed sessions as:
IGCSE – 8 May to 22 June 2017
IB – 27 April to 19 May 2017
There are likely to be some dates outside of these windows for practical assessments in subjects such as Art and Physical Education.
We will shortly be hosting a series of IB examinations in the November session, so, very much appreciate our students’ support adhering to the signage that they will see in the entrance area to B-Block.
If you have any queries about the upcoming examination sessions, please do feel free to contact me directly.
I look forward to working with you.
