This week we will be continuing to read "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl. We will be focusing on developing our skills as writers by building suspense through careful selection of sentence types and clever vocabulary choices. From here we will be using our role play skills to develop our understanding of the characters within the text. We will become the characters and interview each other, so that we can gain a full understanding of each of the main characters. From here we will be revisiting how to correctly punctuate dialogue within written text. We will focus on the use of inverted commas and the importance of varying our speech verbs. At the end of the week, we will take all of our learnt knowledge and apply them to be able to write descriptive paragraphs about the characters from the text.
Next week during our maths lessons we will be revisiting our learning on our times tables. At the start of the week we will be looking at recalling our 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables. From here we will be exploring the role of inverse and linking our multiplication skills to recalling our division facts for 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables. At the end of the week we will be looking at being able to use factor pairs when multiplying and dividing numbers mentally. To challenge ourselves we will also be looking at being able to multiply 3 numbers together.
This week in topic we will become technologists, we will be recreating tradition Mayan sun artwork, looking at the impact that the Mayans had on the history and design of chocolate. From here we will begin to think about creating our own chocolate wrappers. We will explore which chocolate bars we find aesthetically pleasing and why we think people buy certain types of chocolate bars. We will then take this information to begin to design our own bars. At the end of the week we will evaluate whether we think they are a good design through the use of peer assessments before making our final product.
