As we approach the end of the term teachers are busy analysing the recent assessments. Students have received feedback and teachers will use this to inform their planning for next term. English, Maths and Science also use all the evidence gathered this term to review their sets. All set changes will be communicated directly with you from the class teachers and changes will take effect from 9th January. Next week you will receive the Term 1 reports which will include attainment data and engagement with learning grades. This will be a good opportunity for you to discuss this information with your child before joining us for the next round of Academic Review Evenings taking place in January. In these meetings you will be able to discuss the progress your child has made in Term 1 and their next steps in learning to make improvements. To facilitate this we will be setting up the booking system so that you will meet with the Term 1 teachers. You will also be able to use this time to discuss any set changes to ensure that the move has been a positive one and that your child has settled well into their new class.
We have been using a new approach to reporting attainment in Years 7 to 9 this term so we are sure you will have many questions. The Academic Review Evening will provide a good opportunity to discuss this but we have also decided to host a KS3 coffee morning in the New Year to be able to answer any of your more general questions about assessment and reporting. Additionally, we realise there may also be many questions for any parents new to Years 10 and 12 as adjusting to a new system can sometimes be confusing! We will be hosting a separate coffee morning for parents of students in these year groups. Please look out for this event in our communications next term.
Thank you for your support in ensuring that your Year 9 and Year 11 children have submitted their initial Options choices. We are reviewing the choices so we are able to give appropriate advice in our meetings with the students and to provides as many students as possible with the combination of subjects they would like to study. The meetings with students will begin next week and will continue in the New Year.
Finally, it was great to see so many of you at the annual Christmas Carol Concert this week. We were blown away by the quality of the performances and hope that you enjoyed them as much as we did.
