Information and Reminders
Thank you very much for making sure your children have come to school with the correct clothes for the Christmas performance. If you have not sent a costume to school yet, please do so as soon as possible.
We have had a lot of questions about our Infant Christmas Shows next week and we would like to reiterate that both shows are the same and parents may attend either show at their own discretion. The children have worked exceptionally hard to learn their songs, dances and words so we can’t wait to show you all how successful we have been!
On 14th December, we will be hosting a Primary School Reading Workshop. It will be a fantastic opportunity to learn about how to share books with your children, ask appropriate and challenging questions and, most importantly, make reading a fun and accessible part of your daily family lives. There will be separate workshops for different age groups and there will be opportunities to ask any questions you may have to our teaching staff. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Wednesday 14th December!
Next Thursday we will be hosting our Year 1 Christmas party! The children should come to school in their normal uniform and they will change into their party clothes after lunch time. We invite parents to donate food and drink for the party and your class representative should have contacted you with further details regarding this. Any food donated must NOT contain nuts.

English
We have been thinking all week about what we need and what we want at Christmas time and the children have done an exemplary job in explaining and articulating their ideas and opinions. Next week, we will be writing a letter to the Grinch to convince him to give back what he has taken and, hopefully, we will have our Christmas presents returned to us now that we know what really matters during the festive period.
Maths
In mathematics we will be consolidating our learning from across the term. Therefore, on different days, the children will revisit time, shape and calculation. We will also practice orally counting forward to 100 and look carefully at how we cross multiples of 10 when we do so, as this can be where children make mistakes and miscount. Please play this game at home with your child to reinforce these key skills:

Topic
Next Thursday, we will be hosting our Christmas STEAM Day. The children will have lots of different, Christmas-themed activities to try such as building a Christmas tree and comparing the weights of different presents so Santa can carry them to every little girl and boy! We will also finish our mini-Grinch topic and (hopefully) we will get our Christmas presents back!
