Obviously, the first event is the school musical which continues to forge ahead with rehearsals now also running on Saturdays. Pupils are really so focused on trying to deliver the performances we can see they are all able to do. All of us in the Arts department are so impressed with their effort, drive and commitment they show in every rehearsal - it is staggering to think about the journey that they have made since we started rehearsals in October! The main set is just starting to arrive and being built. A huge thanks has to go to Mr Mills who has been providing the professional expertise and labour to construct some quite major parts. I hope that everyone has managed to book their tickets, please don’t leave it too late and find yourself disappointed if tickets sell out (we are already sold out on Friday night).
In March (14th and 15th) we are also looking forward to our second visit from Andrea Lee, our Music Curriculum Specialist at Juilliard. This visit will see Andrea take a more hands-on approach as she will be leading some workshops and also teaching some of the classes, certainly something that every pupil involved will enjoy immensely. She will also drop in on our school Orchestra to help some of the young string players and provide some tips on performing in an Orchestra. Parents are welcome to visit this session that will be held in the Performing Arts Auditorium starting at 3:30pm on Monday 14th March.
Finally, in March (Thursday 24th) we will have our International concert. This will feature soloists, all of the school choirs and the school orchestra performing music from all around the world. There will be no charge for this concert which will start at 7pm, and promises to be a lovely event.
