Also before the holiday, the NAIS Pudong Tiger Shark FOBISIA swim squad travelled to the British International School in Phuket on January 28th to take part in their first international swim meet. With 17 schools from Thailand, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul and Shanghai the swimmers competed exceptionally well, finishing 8th overall. I would like to congratulate Charlie (pictured), MK and Bryan for their successful participation in this highly challenging event. Special mention goes to MK, who gained a place in a final where he was competing against Thai, Filipino and Indonesian champions who have Olympic B qualifying times.
Now that the celebrations are over, it is time for students in Year 11 to begin focusing in earnest on their revision. You have already received the revision timetable, which details the extra help available to any student who needs it; in addition to this, individual students are being targeted with personalised help to ensure that they achieve their targets, and you will hear more about this in due course.

Mandarin
Members of the Year 11 IGCSE first language class have submitted pieces of original writing for the coming "Golden Apple" International school, Shanghai Chinese writing competition. Year 11 students have now finished their IGCSE course in both Language and Literature and are currently engaged in revision of our set play, All My Sons by Arthur Miller. They have been rereading and discussing the play, making detailed notes and will be watching a filmed version of Howard Davies’ excellent 2010 production, starring David Suchet and Zoe Wanamaker.

Miss Ford's German class are studying the topic of environmental protection in German. They are learning complicated vocabulary such as 'Wasserverschmutzung' and 'die Erheizung der Erdatmosphäre' and are able to use such lengthy terms in conversation about the environment in class.
