Shanghai is a wonderful location for Film students, with amazing skylines and colourful cultural activities giving them the fantastic opportunities to explore their learning beyond the classroom.

Recently, students from IB Film in Year 12 and 13 teamed up to create a short film based on their award-winning script written by Matias Rojas for the Shanghai I Love You film competition. Matias’ short film was one shortlisted in the top 15 for the competition.

Combining technical prowess with artistic vision, the team, directed by Richard Heil and starring Aimee Burlamacchi and Seb Arguedas, made the most of the lantern festival at the Shanghai Expo Centre for a very atmospheric shoot. As you can see from the photos, the students even employed drone technology to ensure they captured the best shots.

Their Film will not only contribute 50% to the final assessment but will also be shown at a venue in Shanghai later in the year, for the public to enjoy. We hope to see you at the red carpet premiere!
