Hundreds of students converged on the annual fair, eager to speak with university representatives and professionals about career and higher education choices. Many of the professionals who attended set up very eye-catching and interesting displays. Among them, Mr Jim Dexter from Prosafe brought along displays of a huge “floating hotel” his company has just finished construction of in Shanghai. The “boat” works as a companion to large offshore oil or gas rigs, and certainly provided some awe and wonder at the fair.
More than 30 universities from Europe, America, Australia and Asia sent representatives, providing valuable information about course prerequisites, enrolment procedures and their insider knowledge of campus life.
The keynote address came in the form of a special Women in Business in China panel discussion; an appropriate choice given International Women’s Day also fell in the week. Michelle Garnaut from M on the Bund, Christele Voulaz from Hermes, Agnes Cohade from Art+ Shanghai Gallery and Carol Chyau were both entertaining and inspiring as they shared their very down-to-earth assessment of the highs and lows of their experience of business in China.
Additional workshops included Finance and the RMB with Mr Bruno Francois from BNP Paribas, How Sport can Transform Your Life with Michele Aboro and Fashion with Denis Barricault from the International Fashion Academy Paris.
The Careers and University Fair 2016 was sponsored by St James’s Place Wealth Management.
