I hope you were all able to make it to Beauty and the Beast which was an absolute triumph with star acting, beautiful singing, clever choreography and expert directing. A very big congratulations to all those who took part for their commitment and talent!
Last week, students also had the opportunity to attend the annual Careers Fair with over thirty visiting universities and professionals. A particular highlight was the workshops with fascinating talks about the RMB, Fashion designing, how sport can change your life and Women in Business in China.
View from the classroom
From the geography classroom this fortnight, our student reporters report:
'In Geography, we are currently learning about the hydrological cycle, as our Internal Assessments and Geography trip are both going to be based on rivers. So far, we have planned a lesson for the Year 10s to introduce them to the hydrological cycle, as they will be going on our rivers trip with us. The rivers trip to Tianmushan will take place during mid-April.
It is important for us to understand the basics and the theory for the flow of rivers and the hydrological cycle, so that we are able to apply the knowledge when we arrive at the sites. Two years ago, we were the Year 10s and we went on the rivers trip with the Year 12s, observing their work ethic and attitude towards their work. On that trip, the ones who went learnt a lot about a field trip – how to take accurate samples, how to use time efficiently, how to collaborate as a team etc.
This trip will also be a key part to our academics because we will be using this data to write up our Internal Assessments, with different hypotheses for everyone. Getting enough data and accurate data are both key aspects to writing a good Internal Assessment, in order to obtain our desired overall grades.'
