Letter from the Head of Primary - 24th March 2016

24 March 2016

We are hurtling towards the end of another term, and I think it would be fair to say we have certainly made the most of every single moment we have been at school these past eleven weeks, not forgetting evenings and weekends.

This week has been no exception and the students in Early Years and Primary have had a super time celebrating International Week. A range of activities have taken place across the year groups, including cooking, dancing, arts and crafts. Each year group has focused on a specific continent with classes then learning about countries within that continent. Students have had an opportunity to go to the different teachers in their year groups to learn about the different countries. At the end of this week, our students will find out what other year groups have been studying when the children share their learning with each other. By the end of this week, we will have some truly knowledgeable, global citizens!

We can’t talk about International Week without mentioning the Parade of Nations and the International Food Fair that took place yesterday, and it was clear to see from the grinning faces that our younger students had the most amazing time yesterday. Whether it was parading with their home nation or tasting something new from a different country, all of our students took away some special memories of such a fantastic event. It was also so lovely to see so many of our parents proudly sharing their country’s dishes or entertaining us with their performances.

Today, Primary students were treated to 4Bs Class Assembly which showcased their learning during the term. We also found out who the winners of the spring term House Cup were. Students had the opportunity to earn lots of extra house points this week to enable their house to reach top spot. We have even had a House Drama Competition earlier in the week, led by Mr Trayte, that saw Li house coming out on top. However, when all house points were collected in and totaled up, we had two joint winners….Congratulations to Qi house and Dao house!

Finally, as I mentioned earlier, we are still squeezing as many opportunities out of this term as possible, and this evening both our Rainbow Review and Cantabella choirs will be performing at our Evening of International Music, taking place at 7pm in our Performing Arts Centre. I look forward to seeing many of our parents there.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday.
