English
The children have really enjoyed learning about ways to develop character within narrative stories and use figurative language and dialogue to move the action on and take their reader on a rollercoaster ride of emotions! Next week, the children will focus on editing and improving their writing by proof reading to check for punctuation and spelling errors and correcting their consistency of tense and correct subject-verb agreement.
Maths
Next week in Maths, we move onto looking at Statistics. Children will be interpreting and analysing data presented in a number of forms. Children will become familiar reading pie charts and line graphs as well as presenting information from their Computing lessons into their own pie chart. We will look at timetables and learn to plan journeys and read information. Children will consolidate number work to allow them to correctly make informed decisions on specific timetables for journeys.
Topic
Out AD900 topic is almost at an end. However, over the next couple of weeks we will be producing some lovely art work based on traditional dress worn by the Maya people for festivals and also Islamic art. Children will create masks and intricate patterns in a range of mediums. We will also continue to focus on the debate of understanding right from wrong and consider the actions of the British Army in Benin, what caused the demise of ancient civilisations and what keeps a society together.
