We are also selling coffee through an amazing local fair trade company called Fu Coffee. The coffee we are selling was all grown in Tanzania. For every 100RMB bag of coffee, 50RMB goes to our projects in Tanzania. From the remaining 50RMB, funds are reinvested in the coffee growing communities. Add to that the fact that it is really top quality coffee and it really is a win win situation! You can make an order here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8XF6FYD
The expedition will take place from March 25th to April 2nd. During this period, the students will help local schools and students by building accommodations and providing resources to benefit their daily lives both in and out of school. The students will also go on a 3-day safari trip, discovering the beauty of Tanzanian nature.
In the last week we have had a major information evening for parents and students. As well as lots of details of travel and packing lists we were lucky to have a video and PowerPoint sent by the students from Puxi who went to Tanzania in November but best of all was a film and talk by Josie and Amelia in Year 10 who were part of the team from NAIS Pudong last year. They reassured us about the food we would be eating (apparently it is delicious) and our tent-based accommodation and raised levels of excitement with their stories of the projects and safari. It was great to see just how enthusiastic Amelia and Josie are about their experience, even a year later.
We’re all very excited and thankful to be able to have such an experience and contribute something to communities who might not have all of the luxuries we take for granted and who are sometimes lacking even basics like good quality accommodation, classrooms and electricity supply.
