In addition, the Year 11 GCSE students have just recently sat their Art exam. Through strict guidance from Mr Thomas and Ms Procter the students have engaged on a journey and process of how Art is conceived. I am pleased to say that the outcomes are truly marvelous and creative, with unique and personal responses to a difficult theme.
Finally, our Year 7 to Year 9 students have been working hard developing new skills whilst building on exciting techniques. I have seen only a small sample of their work but I have been impressed with Year 9 students’ self-portrait paintings, expressive mixed media pieces based on the skeleton from Year 8, and Year 7 students’ first exploration into sculpture.
In the Musical Theatre group we are very pleased with the effort that these students are putting in. We are now rehearsing on Wednesdays and Fridays after school in order to get their pieces finalised and polished ready for the Stage and Screen Concert on May 12th. Details regarding costumes will be given to students at this week’s rehearsals; if any student is absent, please get in touch with myself so I can give you the details personally. The students are really enjoying being on stage and are very much looking forward to performing at the concert. Also performing will be all of our choirs and I will be sending out a letter to parents of students involved, and trialing an electronic reply slip so we can organise all the students involved in a more effective way and without using lots of of paper.
We are very pleased with the start of the Senior Vocal group this term led by Mrs Bailey. This group is made up of our most able singers/musicians and is a perfect platform for them to explore different styles of singing and part singing. We hope to expand this group to form a larger senior vocal group in the very near future so if there are any children who would like to be involved in this please get in touch.
