In English, we will be working on non-chronological reports. Students will be researching, as well as using information collected as part of the last two weeks' homework, on famous ancient Egyptian temples. They will be initially looking at the format of non-chronological reports and building a rich and varied vocabulary that can be used when writing about these.  They will then be retrieving and recording information from non-fiction texts on each of these temples. The next step will be drafting and writing non-chronological reports using headings and subheadings. Finally, they will be proofreading and collaborating in order to tie in with the IT Topic of ‘Being Co-Authors’ to create a Wikipedia-type page.

In Maths, we will revisit the concept of measurement. Students will be working on estimating, comparing and calculating different measurements which include: weight - such as grammes and kilogrammes; length and distance – such as millimetres, centimetres, metres and kilometres. We will also get the chance to look at money which will include pounds and pence as well as other denominations such as RMB and dollars and cents. Naturally, this will involve decimals, so our learning will extend to review this area as well.

This week will be our final week covering the topic of ‘Temples, Tombs and Treasures’.  We will be finishing off our Art activities which include making ancient Egyptian jewellery, Shabtis, and Cartouches. We will also be creating a ‘sarcophagus’ to put our mummified tomatoes in. For our Exit Point, students will be working as classes to create a video in which to share all the learning we have done this term. Students will have the opportunity to create videos to share all the things that they have learnt and created throughout the topic. These videos will then be shared with our families to view.
