With IGCSE practical exams in PE and ICT taking place this week, as well as English Language oral exams, we have really started to feel that exam season is upon us and, of course, the written exams start in earnest on Monday – we wish all our examination students the very best of luck as they approach their final exams.
Year 11 and 13 are, as I write, benefiting from an exam strategy presentation by Mr Pritchard, picking up on some of the themes that he shared with parents in the excellent session recently. Tomorrow, Year 13 students will say their final ‘goodbye’ to school life, whereas for most of our Year 11 students it will be ‘au revoir’ rather than good bye, as they will be joining us to start the IB Programme in August, and indeed for the IB Induction programme on 20, 21, and 22 June.
The rest of our students, however, cannot rest on their laurels, as by now they should have received the end-of-year exam/assessment information and schedules for Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12. Their exams take place from 23 May to 3 June. These exams and assessments will cover work from the whole year, and teachers will be supporting students, especially our younger students who may be less familiar with sitting exams. What to revise and how to revise effectively is a skill that they will start acquiring now and, hopefully, will have mastered by the time they too are sitting their formal external exams in Years 11 or 13.
I wish you all a lovely and, I hope, sunny long weekend.
