In English next week, we will continue to work on Kensuke’s Kingdom. Children will read further into the book, identifying and analysing different examples of punctuation and writing techniques used and the reasons for these. We will also consider the language used by Michael Morpurgo and the impact this has on the reader. In addition to this, children will practise their comprehension skills and develop their methods of understanding text and interpreting deeper meanings.

Throughout the week, children will continue to embed their knowledge of the different skills and strategies in Maths and utilise these in a real life setting. We will continue to resolve all our topics within the parameters of discussing and using reasoning. Children will have the opportunity to work on different problems using trial and error, logic and reasoning to find and explain their responses. We will revisit fractions, calculations and shape.

Having begun our new unit on The Olympics, next week, children will learn about the history of the Olympics and the importance of positive mottos and phrases. We will begin to look at the advantages and disadvantages of hosting an Olympic games and consider the impact this can have on a community. Children will also learn about Brazil as a country and the human and physical features of this country.

We will also be providing the children with some extra Computing lessons in order for them to fully prepare for their app summit later in the week. We hope to see you all there.
