We will, of course, see our Year 13 students just once more as a group tomorrow evening when they hold their graduation dinner at the Peace Hotel – and we are looking forward to seeing them all dressed up in their finery, for a final celebration.
Meanwhile, back in school, Year 11 students continue to sit their IGCSE examinations, which continue right through until 17 June. Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 also have their end-of-year exams and assessments this week and next, and for the younger years, this has been their first experience of a formal examination setting in the hall. As we explained to them, these exams are just like the ones they are sitting in classrooms, but we want them to start getting familiar with the experience of sitting exams in the hall, so that when they reach IGCSE this is a natural environment for them, and they are able to perform at their best in this formal setting.
Last week’s Parent Event ‘Supporting children through adolescence’ was well attended and very well received. Dr. Beth was an engaging speaker, and we are now looking into offering further parent events of this nature, as well as the possibility of something similar for our students.
We are in the final throes of confirming the arrangements for the last week of term, with some exciting opportunities for learning beyond the classroom being planned – details of these will be sent to you by Year Leaders before the end of next week.
Finally, please remember Summer Fun Day on 4 June – and please also remember to send in any contributions for the traditional Tombola to Mr Howard’s office in C Block. Summer Fun Day promises to be an excellent community event, and I look forward to seeing many of you there. Have a lovely weekend.
