U15 Rugby Finals

This week saw a resurgent NAIS enter the finals with a fantastic Tigers fighting spirit.  Indeed watching our forwards in action at times I felt like I was watching the Leicester Tigers. Most of our play this week was dominated by the forwards.  Thomas Wallace and Lucas Van der Putten were absolutely superb and Joseph led the pack very well, but the man of the tournament was Myong Kyu Han for his fantastic tries and running – in full flight he left opposition players in his wake as he powered through the opposition like an angry Rhino.

Away from my obvious love of the forward play I should also say that the backs were excellent and showed fast handling, good kicking and some superb bursts of speed. Unfortunately this season the results have tended not to go our way, none the less we embodied the spirit of the game and have won the respect of all of our opponents. Well done this year lads – and here’s to seeing you move up to the SISAC D1 and D2 teams next year.

U13 Netball Finals

Wow what an amazing end to such a fantastic season! On Saturday June 4th the U13 Netball squads journeyed to Dulwich College to partake in the finals tournament. The day started extremely well with a very close game against Dulwich Suzhou. Right from the beginning the girls played their hearts out, communicating on court, using their improved knowledge of the game to make some great interceptions mid court. Unfortunately it resulted in a loss but the girls were not disheartened.

Our next two matches proved to be both challenging and exhilarating! With a win against BISS Puxi and a draw against Dulwich College B squad the mind-set of the squad remained positive and determined. With some fantastic shooting from Elodie Jacqmin and Natasha Niggli, we managed to stream ahead many times during both of the games.  Our mid court players were also on point with some piercing interceptions from Yukiko Jaffrey at Centre and Josephine Lonsdale the ever so fast wing attack! Unfortunately the last game of the day against Dulwich College A squad resulted in a heavy loss but the girls were positive moving forward into the 3rd/4th playoffs.

It was a long, tiring, emotional day but the squad never failed to give 150% out there on the court. The playoff match was extremely tense, with an injury towards the end of the first half to Ciara Wallace, the girls continued to work hard but it was not meant to be. We proudly finished 4th in what was an amazing finals day.

Throughout the duration of the season I have seen so many of the girls improve their game and really enjoy playing the sport! I am very proud of everything they have achieved. It was a great way to end my time here at NAIS as a netball coach and I wish the U13A and B squads and all of the school netball squads the very best of luck for next year! I will miss you all!!

The U13 B girls Netball team played well in their tournament. Their first game was against Dulwich Suzhou B team. The first half Dulwich outplayed the girls and went in 5 goals up, the second half the girls improved by 100% and scored a goal through Yvonne Chen and the game finished 6 – 1. The next game against BISS Puxi was a very close game. We took the lead through Yvonne Chen and Anne-Sara Deville and the team were dominating the game and creating lots of shooting chances. The second half we continued to dominate but not able to score. The BISS team in the last 4 minutes  of the game scored three goals and ran out winners by 4 – 2. The girls were disappointed but again approached their last group game with a determined approach against Dulwich Suzhou Team 3. The game was very close and Yvonne Chen scored four goals and Anne-Sara Deville scored one goal. With the game tied at 5 all both teams were creating chances in the last 2 minutes and Dulwich scored two more goals to win 7 – 5. The girl’s team played in the 3rd/4th place play-off game against BISS Puxi. The first half finished with the score at 2 – 2. We went into the second half with a chance to win. Sadly, BISS Puxi took control of the game and the team worked tirelessly to get back in the game and again Yvonne scored three goals and Anne-Sara another goal but we lost the game by 6 – 4 and the girls team finished 4th overall. The girls performed really well and should be pleased with their efforts and the captain, Hei Yu Ngai led by example. The player of the tournament was Anne-Sara Deville.

U15 Netball Tournament

Saturday 4th June NAIS Tigers hosted the end of season U15 netball tournament.

The day was filled with outstanding performances and sportsmanship from all of the competing schools and participants involved.

The NAIS Tigers A and B teams played some of their best netball of the season. It was a great finish to the season and even though the girls A lost in the final to their nemesis Dulwich College, Shanghai they know they will improve as a team and be even more competitive in the future.

The Final results:

2 – NAIS 1

5 –NAIS 2
