Letter from the Director of Music and The Arts - 2nd June 2016

02 June 2016

Last week saw our third and final visit for this year of Andrea Lee, our Juilliard specialist. During her two-day visit, Andrea worked with many of our pupils with her cello, exploring composition and how the instrument can make different sounds. It was fantastic to see how much our pupils have progressed during the year as she asked for ways to describe her playing. On the second day, she had the opportunity to work with all of our school cellists in a masterclass. This was a wonderful spectacle to see, 8 cellists all performing together and working as a team. It was even better was to notice that, at her first visit, there were only 3 cellists in school; now we have grown to 10. It was a rewarding few days and we all look forward to the next visit which will be in October.

Horrible Histories rehearsals are in full flow and continue to impress us immensely. We are very pleased to see all members of the classes joining in and being actively involved, not just leaving it those who are more confident on stage. All years have taken stage instructions and feedback on board and have really tried to perfect their performances to the best of their abilities. Well done all of you!

With the last performance now just a few days away, we are very much looking forward to hearing the Rainbow Review, Cantabella and Senior Vocal Group perform at the Summer Fun Day on Saturday. Rainbow Review and Cantabella will perform in one slot around 12:30pm, whilst the Senior Vocal Group will join up with Community Choir to perform later in the afternoon at around 2:30pm. Letters were sent home via our CCA provider and the online link to the form was imbedded in the email letter. Please can all parents complete this very brief form so we have precise numbers for the performances.
