There was much excitement in the IB Academy yesterday afternoon as the students arrived to collect their Edexcel IGCSE results. The students have achieved exceptional results for both their Edexcel and CIE examinations and, now that all the results are in, I can share some outstanding headline figures which include:
- 58% of exam entries achieved A*-A grades, a 6% increase from last year, well above the UK national average of 21%
- 91% of exam entries achieved A*-C grades, compared with 67% in the UK
Eric Chen in 12C, achieved A* in all his subjects and when asked to reflect on this incredible achievement he said ‘I’m extremely happy with my results, it makes me feel that all the hours spent on revision was really worth it. These results are motivation for the much more challenging journey ahead through IB’.
In addition to Eric’s fantastic results we also have another 17 students who gained 8 or more A*-A grades. Shahana Bagchi in 12A is one of these students: she received 9 A* grades. She is quite modest about her achievements stating: ‘Overall, I think I have done a good job’, when asked to reflect on her results. However, we think she has done fantastically.
These amazing results round up what has been our strongest exam session in the history of our school. It’s clear to see all the hard work, determination to succeed, whilst embracing all aspects of school life under the care of staff and parents has really paid off. The bar has been set high for this year’s cohort; we are confident they will rise to the challenge.
