Message from Primary

01 September 2016

Dear Parents,

A wonderful second week back at school in Early Years and Primary and a very special welcome to our youngest students who started school this week. We opened our Giraffe class on Monday morning and I have been really impressed with how well the children have been settling into school. We have experienced a few tears in the morning when it is time to say goodbye to mums, dads and ayis, which is very normal for our Pre-Nursery children, but these haven’t lasted long once the children have been distracted by the sand, water, bricks and many other toys in the Early Years unit. Well done to all our new Pre-Nursery children and a special thank you to our Early Years team for helping them settle into their new environment.

Earlier this week I met with our two Librarians, Kym and Jo, who are very keen to see if there are any parents who would like to help out in the Learning Centre for a morning or afternoon, or even for an hour or two. We have recently received a large intake of new textbooks for our secondary students as well as having several hundred books in our Primary Reading Room, that need backing in protective plastic and recording on our electronic system. If you would like to help out, please contact Kym and Jo on: .

Our Class Dojo is now up and running in the Early Years and Primary, and this serves as one of our main forms of communication between home and school. On Class Dojo you can follow what the children have been doing in class and see pictures of the various activities taking place. Your child’s class teacher will have sent home information about how to join Class Dojo, but please do contact them if you are not sure of the process.

One of the messages we sent out on Class Dojo was information regarding our Early Years and Primary Meet and Greet event taking place next week on Wednesday 7th September, from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. Meet and Greet is an opportunity for you to come in to school and meet with your child’s teachers, as well as find out information about the curriculum and other key information relevant to your child’s year group.

There will be scheduled presentations by each year group throughout the evening at the following times:

  • Early Years (PN, N and Reception) – 5.15pm to 5.45pm
  • Year 1 and Year 2 (presentations in separate venues) – 6.00pm to 6.30pm
  • Year 3 and Year 4 (presentations in separate venues) – 6.45pm to 7.15pm
  • Year 5 and Year 6 (presentations in separate venues) – 7.30pm to 8.00pm

There is no requirement to stay for the entire evening and if you wish to attend the relevant presentation only, this is perfectly fine. Meet and Greet is an adult only event and is not suitable for children. If you do not have childcare for Wednesday, please get in touch with me directly via email: .

I very much look forward to seeing you there.

With best wishes,

Lisa Passante
