In the next few weeks we will start our CCA activities. I am hoping to see the Orchestra (Monday afterschool) continue to grow as it did last year, trying to involve pupils across both Primary and Secondary, so please make sure you sign up your children for this. The two Primary Choirs will continue as they did last year with Mrs Bailey running them as normal (Rainbow Review –Tuesday Lunchtime, Cantabella – Thursday lunch). Pupils in Year 3 are able to sing in both, the only year they can do this! There are some great opportunities for pupils in Drama with the Lamda CCA run by Mr Bradshaw (Thursday after school) and new this year will be a chance to help in the set building, design and painting for the show, Into the Woods, which will be run by Mr Thomas in Art.
Obviously over the next few weeks we will start the audition process for the school show, Into the Woods. There has already been a huge take up from pupils signing up and this is fantastic to see! The auditions are open to pupils from Year 5-13; full details for pupils and parents of pupils in Year 5 and 6 will come out to form tutors and class teachers shortly. We hope to build on the success of last year’s show and early indications show that pupils are very keen to be involved already, with numbers already surpassing last year’s cast. You will notice that the CCA’s for the show are slightly different than last year. We decided to split the Principals and Chorus into two different CCA’s, this should give us more focus on each group of performers. All cast members will be required to attend Friday afterschool CCA for singing.
Instrumental lessons will start in a couple of weeks and forms will be available to download and print online. There will be a small change to the overall price as there have been some tax changes for our visiting music staff over the summer. I will communicate these changes directly to you very shortly.
