It was a very warm and sticky day, but that didn’t stop our super students who got up early and played their hearts out on the football field, cheered on by mums, dads, siblings and teachers. Whilst Mr Scrymgeour shouted out tactical instructions to the players on the pitch, I ‘oohed’ and ‘aahed’ as balls narrowly missed the goal posts or were kicked out of play. We did have the opportunity however to see lots of goals being scored by our teams and some delighted faces went home later that afternoon with their parents.
We will be hosting two of the primary football fixtures ourselves this term, on Saturday 24th September and Saturday 5th November. We hope you will be able to come along and cheer along our fantastic footballers.
On Sunday, we braved the drizzle for our Family Picnic and it was great to see so many of our Early Years and Primary parents turn out for the event. It was probably a good idea that most families chose to set up their picnics on the picnic benches and there were soon more footballs and rugby balls flying around the field. There were also skateboards and scooters let loose as children made the most of the opportunity of an empty bus park and playground to have some fun.
This week Mr Scrymgeour and I have been visiting classrooms to see some wonderful learning taking place. Today we even experienced some creepy crawlies in Year 5, and were fascinated to hear the students talk about what they knew about the classification of invertebrates. Today also saw our first primary coffee morning and we began our monthly get togethers by asking our parents for some feedback on the first few weeks of school as well as what they would like to see coming up in future parent workshops. Thank you to all our parents who were able to make it as the weather this morning was pretty dreadful.
We now begin preparations for International Week which will take place the week after next. In their classes the children will be finding out which countries and continents they are going to be learning about, as well as sharing with their peers information about their own home country. We will have our Parade of Nations and International Food Fair to look forward to as well as an International Treasure Hunt across the Early Years and Primary school. We hope you can join in our celebrations.
Wishing you a, hopefully, drier long weekend,
Lisa Passante
