Welcome Back Lunch – Wednesday 22nd February, 2017

Food for thought…

Among other charitable support, the NAIS Community Group sponsored 17 high school students and 2 university students in the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 School Year.  We gave 63,000 RMB of our income to fund this each year. The funds to pay for the school and university fees were raised at the school events run or supported by the Community Group: Bonfire Night, the Christmas Bazaar the Summer Fair amongst others.

Even small amounts of money can transform the lives of underprivileged children and their families who otherwise would not have access to quality secondary or higher education. As a school community, we should be proud that we have been able to transform the lives of these 17 children, giving them a start in life that they would otherwise not have.

This year, we will continue to contribute to this amazing cause. Full details of the cost of supporting students is being evaluated by the Community Group at present. We will be sharing this information, to a more detailed level, with you all after Chinese New Year.

For this reason we continue to drive forward with our efforts to fundraise.  The majority of the profits we raise from our events, whether from selling mulled wine, requesting donations to visit Santa, the raffles or contributions through the ‘Donation Boxes’, are used to support underprivileged people within Shanghai and beyond.  We hope you will continue to give generously at our events so we can ensure that our commitment to service and ‘giving back’ to the less fortunate community beyond the gates of NAIS can be fulfilled.

Tip of the Week…

Chinese New Year Preparations are in full swing around the City. There are some beautiful sights to be seen. For those who have never been to YuYuan Gardens, it is worth a visit over the next couple of weeks. There are some lovely decorations creating an amazing atmosphere in and around the gardens at the moment.

For now…the Community Group is looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday night at Big Bamboo in Jin Qiao, and on Sunday at the Temple Fair. See you then….
