Overview of next week’s learning

As part of our themed activities the children will continue to develop their understanding of opposites with our focus being on weight and capacity. The children will enjoy exploring different ways of filling and emptying containers of water and comparing the weights of different objects. During focused maths sessions the children will continue to explore numbers and comparing two sets of objects and represent the numbers counted using marks or writing the corresponding numeral.

During early phonics activities, the children will explore rhyming and alliteration through games, songs and stories. As well as developing listening skills through taking part in environmental walks and identifying different environmental sounds through playing sound bingo in small groups.

As part of our literacy development the children will begin to look in depth at the story Rosie’s Walk by Pat Hutchins over the next couple of weeks. The children begin to retell this simple story through using actions and a simple narrative.
