Mock Exams Continue
As you will of course know, I have very little to report from the last fortnight, as the Year 11s have had their heads down completing their mock IGCSE exams. From the first day back after the holidays, the students have displayed an exemplary attitude to their exams. Without exception they have arrived punctually and well-equipped for their exams, have entered the exam hall calmly and maintained a fantastic level of focus and a serious and conscientious attitude to this challenging period. I have been extremely proud of them.
As we move into next week, the written exams are over but practical exams begin; I would like to wish luck to all the students who are undertaking assessment, often lasting all day, in DT, PE, Art and Drama, as well as to those who are completing spoken language exams.
This Thursday, after the mock exams are over, the students will be off timetable for a special ‘Introduction to the IB’ Day, led by Mr Graham and the IB team. I am sure they will find this interesting and rewarding and that it will be very useful for them to help them to start thinking about life after IGCSE.
Students will be getting their marked mock exam papers back gradually, but they will not be given grades: these will be saved for the official IGCSE Results Day on 10th February. Students will be gathered together in the dining hall and will be given an envelope to open which contains all their mock grades. This is intended to replicate the experience of receiving their results in the summer and to prepare students for the formality of this occasion.
