Information and reminders
Thank you to all parents for their support with costumes and accessories for the parade last week. The children had a great time and it was wonderful to see them embracing a different era.
Next week, we will be looking at how fashion has changed over time. It would be great if you could send in any old photographs to highlight the changes. We will be looking at fashion from the 60s and 70s. The photographs can be of parents, friends or grandparents.
If you haven’t already, we would really appreciate you taking the time to complete our Parent Satisfaction Survey by following this link: http://parentsurvey.nordanglia.com/survey/selfserve/5a0/160104?wave=y2017
Thank you for your support.

English
In English, we will begin the week by reading the story ‘On sudden hill.’ The story focuses on the importance of cooperation and friendship. The children will discuss the ways in which they should respect each other as friends. Each Year 1 class will create a worry box and help each other to consider solutions to support one another.
Key focus in writing: To use different punctuation marks and adjectives to make writing more interesting.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, the children will investigate position, direction and movement. They will be encouraged to use specific vocabulary to describe the different processes. Activities will involve following instructions, clues and becoming human robots.
Key vocabulary: top, middle, bottom, on top of, in front of, above, between, around, near, close, far, up, down, inside, outside, left, right, half turn, quarter turn, three quarters turn and clockwise.
Topic
Next week, the learning goal we will be exploring will be cooperation. We will use the Beatles song ‘With a little help from my friends’ as our stimulus.
The children will compare and contrast how fashion has changed and adapted over time. They will play a guessing game in which they will have to identify and explain a range of 60s clothes such as flares, platforms, leg warmers etc. They will write about these changes and share their ideas with each other.
