English
During our English lessons next week we are going to be continuing to look at how a story develops. We will be developing our skills of being able to vary our sentence lengths and how this can build tension and interest in our writing. From here we will be exploring the use of vocabulary to add detail to our writing and develop the characters and settings that we choose. Alongside this we will continue to focus on the importance of using a wide range of punctuation types, consistently using joined and legible handwriting and the use of paragraphing to organise our ideas and thoughts. At the end of the week we will concentrate on our proof reading skills ensuring that we are reading our work from a grammatical perspective and checking and spelling mistakes.
Guided Reading: In Guided Reading next week we will be identifying and discussing themes and conventions in a wide range of writing.
Spelling: During our spelling lessons next week we will be looking at the rules for spelling words including apostrophes for possession.
Maths
During our maths lessons next week we are going to be continuing to explore angles. We will begin the week by looking at angles in shapes. From here we will move onto being able to compare angles up to two right angles in size and also at being able to order angles by size. Towards the end of the week we will bring together all of our learning and apply our knowledge to problem solving involving angles.
Topic
During our topic work next week we will be becoming scientists. We will begin the week by looking at what a healthy plate of food looks like. We will learn all about a balanced diet and how this is important for growing up to be healthy and strong. From here we will be designing our own healthy menu. Towards the end of the week we will be undertaking experiments based on how we can investigate different types of food going off and why this happens.
