Bookings for the Academic Review Evenings are now open. Please follow the instructions sent via email to make an appointment, if you are experiencing any problems please contact your child’s class teacher.

As the weather is beginning to change, children may start to wear their summer uniform. Please check the school website for information about the correct uniform.

Information about the Summer Fun Day can be found on the school website. We urgently need your help launching this event! Help us create the poster that will be used in the advertising campaign promoting this event. Please check Class Dojo for more information.

Stars of the Week

Year 1A – Meinian Chen for writing a great recount about our alien adventure

Year 1B – Charlie Prebenson for writing super sentences

Year 1C – Oatile Thage for using a number line to solve word problems



In English, the children will read the story ‘The Tin Forest’. They will explore the characters thoughts and feelings as they try to understand the perspective of different characters. The children will re-write the story focusing on using adjectives for effect.

Focus: Use phonic knowledge to spell words, punctuate sentences write in the correct tense, use adjectives for effect



In Mathematics, the children will continue to use a number line. They will subtract numbers and try to understand that subtraction is the inverse of addition. Towards the end of the week they will apply their knowledge of subtraction to solve word problems.

Key Vocabulary: less than, fewer, smaller, the same amount as, as many as, exchange, digit, finding the difference



The children enjoyed the entry point to our new topic ‘Our World.’ We hope they shared their exciting news with you! Next week, we will continue to investigate the strange events at school. Activities will include labelling and identifying the parts of a tree and exploring the environment around them.
