Dear Parents,

It was wonderful to see many of our parents come to school this week for our final Academic Review Evenings of the school year. With the third term already quickly flying by we want to ensure our students have plenty of opportunities to achieve their goals before the end of the year, and our Academic Review Evenings are the perfect opportunity in which to discuss how your child can be best supported at home and at school. If you were unable to attend Academic Review Evening, we would strongly suggest arranging to meet your child’s teacher at an alternative time; please feel free to contact them directly.

This week our students have been enjoying the warmer weather and are making the most of their time outdoors during breaktime and lunchtime. We would like to remind parents that students can now come into school in summer uniform; you can find detailed information about this in your child’s Learning Journal or alternatively, you can visit our Uniform Shop.

Our CCA programme also got underway this week and it is great to see a large number of Early Years children enjoying activities after school in addition to our primary students.

Primary students enjoyed two special assemblies this week. The first, on Tuesday, was our House Drama Assembly, which saw students from Mr Trayte’s House Drama CCA, each perform a cultural story to the rest of the school. I was very honoured to judge the performances along with Mr and Mrs Bailey and it was a very tough decision to decide on the best performance. Well done to all the students who performed so well, displaying confidence and a natural talent for acting.

Class 6C led our second assembly of the week with a very mature and thoughtful presentation on UNICEF’s 17 Global Goals. Our school has been learning about the Global Goals as part of Nord Anglia’s Global Challenge this year, and our Year 6 students in particular have really been considering different ideas on how they could have an impact on raising awareness of global issues. 6C’s assembly definitely gave the primary school a lot to think about.

Next week two of our year groups will enjoy day visits as part of their current topics; Year 4 will be visiting Metro Supermarket to identify foods from different parts of the world and find out how such foods find their way to China. Year 5 will be visiting People’s Square and the Bund as part of their topic The Holiday Show. They will be identifying ways in which downtown Shanghai has developed over the years due to the impact of tourism. The following week of course, both year groups will be venturing off on their residentials, which the students and teachers are very much looking forward to.

Before next week begins however, staff and parents have got Curry and Quiz night to look forward to! Organised by our Community Group, teams will be battling it out on Saturday night to find out who the trivia experts of NAIS Pudong are – after enjoying a delicious curry of course. I hope to see many of you there!

Best wishes,

Lisa Passante
