World Mental Health Day

This year’s World Mental Health Day, on 10 October, comes at a time when our daily lives have changed considerably. Yesterday our students participated in a range of activities to bring awareness to the topic.

For instance, our students in Year 1 discussed different feelings by using the famous Disney movie "Inside Out" characters to help to learn about each feeling and why we feel these sometimes as well as what we can do to help us feel better. They also made stress balls and discussed their own fears by creating a fear monster to represent their fears.

In Year 3 they shared the important things in their lives and the things that make them happy, they then created posters to share these wonderful things.


The students discussed how to improve the mental health of ourselves and our friends. Year 4 also made heart-shaped posters to record our ideas.

Students in Year 5, 6 and 7 took time out of their busy schedule to practice some mindful breathing and movement in order to calm their thoughts, minds and feel present in the moment.


Additionally, Year 6 focused on positivity and sharing nice qualities about our peers. They then used this to make positive flowers, full of great things about ourselves which we can keep as a reminder of how brilliant we are!
