Our First Week of School

It is always a pleasure to welcome students back to school after a long summer break. This is something we can’t take for granted in 2020, as schools across the world are unable to open safely amidst a global pandemic.

Here in Shanghai, we are so fortunate to not only open our doors to students for face-to-face instruction but also begin reintroducing other aspects of school life. Of course, we are very mindful of those not yet with us and have enjoyed involving our students in the classroom experience through our VSE whenever possible. We hope to all be back together again in the coming weeks and wish everyone well on their journeys back to Shanghai.

Whilst we are thankful to have our students on-site, parents are unfortunately unable to access the campus as we continue following the regulations from local authorities. However, we have been working closely with our Parent Community Association to arrange opportunities for parents to meet off-site with members of our team. I encourage anyone looking to get involved in school life and help us build a vibrant school community, to join us at the PCA Coffee Morning on Thursday 10th September at The Kerry Parkside. Additionally, the PCA has already started planning our Welcome Luncheon, so please do come along.

Our Virtual Orientation Day Sessions proved to be a resounding success, however we understand that it is vital to meet personally with those educating your sons and daughters. I am so pleased to announce that we will host our annual Meet and Greet Evenings at The Emerald Compound Kangba Road, which is conveniently located five minutes from our school. These will take place on Tuesday 15th of September from 6:00 – 8:00 pm for EYFS and Primary and Thursday 17th September from 6:00 – 8:00 pm for Secondary. More details will be sent out next week, but I wanted to give you advance notice to save the date. Our full teaching team will be available to meet with you over drinks and nibbles. I will also be sharing our vision for the year ahead with members of our school’s Leadership Team. I look forward to welcoming as many parents as possible. If the start of the year is anything to go by, I truly believe this will be one of our greatest years in the long history of NAIS Pudong!
