32 players have chosen to take part in a summer term tournament. Every year group is represented with a number of our teachers also joining in the challenge. The tournament has created a real buzz during lunchtimes with students playing at every spare moment. What is fantastic to see is that students across year groups are playing each other either in the tournament or in spontaneous practice matches around the school. Those not so familiar with the game have started to learn whilst others are just happy to watch and support. The tournament is now in the knockout phase with the quarter finals scheduled for next week. The winner of the tournament will not only have the honour of being the 2021 Champion but will get to take on our very own Chess expert Dr Chipman in an exhibition match in the final week of term.
