The four weeks culminated in a closing ceremony in true Olympic style. The children received awards and certificates based on their dedication and hard work and even created the pictograms shown during the Tokyo Olympics Opening Ceremony!
Our students in summer school have massively enjoyed a wide range of STEAM activities based around the Olympic games. KS2 have been busy creating Olympic starting lights, robotic wrestlers and robotic rowers, requiring them to apply construction and engineering skills along with precise programming. Meanwhile, Year 2 have created been understanding how Olympic sailing boats can harness the power of wind using different sail positions as well as developing excellent collaborative skills to construct their own bobsleigh using upcycled materials.
