Emma is a Highly Experienced IB practitioner. In addition to the teaching of English Language and Literature, Film, Theory of Knowledge and English Literature, she leads the Extended Essay provision as a core component of the IB Diploma provision. In addition, Emma supervises interdisciplinary World Studies essays as well as subject specific essays in Film and Literature. Emma is furthermore an active member of the IB Educator Network and is a qualified examiner in a range of components. Emma’s wealth of experience as well as student focused approach makes her the ideal member of the team to lead the IB Academy at NAIS Pudong.
Apart from her work as Head of IB Academy, Emma also teaches both Key Stage 3 and IGCSE students. At IGCSE she is a teacher of Cambridge English First Language and English Literature. Furthermore, she is an examiner for the Cambridge English as a Second Language oral component. She loves teaching English at NAIS Pudong, and most of all, loves the way that internationalism is celebrated amongst the students and staff here and strives to incorporate this into all elements of her teaching. In her role as Head of IB Academy, Emma ensure ongoing academic rigour where students are supported to cultivate the qualities of the learner profile and the IB Diploma approaches to learning.
Emma is dedicated, creative and energetic. Not only is she passionate about English Language and Literature, she also enjoys lively debate about topical social and political issues. Emma is talented academic and an insightful leader who is well placed to support students in the IB Academy as they bridge the gap between the pedagogical approach to learning at school level to the androcidal methods they can expect at university and beyond.
