Joan joined NAIS Pudong in 2016 teaching Korean literature. She has over 25 years of experience as a teacher having graduated with a BA in Korean Language and Literature from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul. Prior to her move to Shanghai she taught high school students who were aiming for entrance to the top Korean universities. Joan has embraced a creative and critical way to teach students, conveying her passion for the subject as part of the IB Diploma. She adapts her teaching style to each student’s needs, exemplifying our approach to personalised learning.
Joan continues to model the principle of being a lifelong learner as she is always interested in new things. She plays the piano and violin, enjoys tennis, golf, yoga and swimming and most of all loves reading novels, especially detective novels. Her favourite authors are Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie, with Sherlock Holmes being a particular hero of hers.
