During the final year of her Mathematics degree from the University of Leicester, Laura undertook a module on communicating Maths which sparked a passion for education and inspired her to gain her teaching qualification. Since then, Laura has been teaching in London across Key Stage 2 and have most recently been based in Year 6. Whilst at her most recent school, Laura has organised many whole school projects, such as founding a school council and running a careers week, to prepare children for their futures and begin equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their goals.
Laura’s vision is to provide children with an all-encompassing education that gives them not just knowledge of the core subjects, but also an understanding of the wider world and prepare them for adulthood. It is with this in mind that Laura is excited to move to Shanghai, as it gives her the opportunity to broaden her horizons and learn more about another culture. It was NAIS Pudong’s outstanding reputation and engaging curriculum which drew her to the school and she is very excited to be joining the team.
Laura grew up in London in a large family and has lived there throughout her life. She spends much of her free time with family and friends; going to the theatre, visiting art galleries and attending the ballet. Laura’s passion for the creative arts stems from its ability to immerse us in alternate realities and give us different perspectives on the world. She enjoys travelling and has been lucky to have the opportunity to visit many parts of the world, exploring new areas and learning more about different histories and cultures.
