Janice was born and raised in New Zealand, where she attended university, trained as a teacher and started her career in Physical Education. Janice initially worked for three years as a PE teacher in New Zealand before heading abroad to teach in England. While living in the UK she continued to teach in and around London and also spent some time travelling around Europe. For most of her career in England Janice was the Deputy Head of PE in an all girls’ school in North London. She then returned to New Zealand to get married and start her family where she continued to teach PE and Mathematics, in between having her two children.
Janice next made the move with her family to Abu Dhabi where she was a PE teacher and co-ordinator for four years in an IB school. Passionate about travelling and experiencing different cultures, she made the decision to move to Shanghai to Nord Anglia British International School, Pudong in August 2018 and has been teaching at NAIS Pudong since.
Janice is a married mother of two children, and a keen sportswoman who has played and coached netball extensively over the years. She is also a keen badminton and volleyball player/coach and likes to swim, cycle and walk for mental relaxation and fitness. Janice is interested in many other sports. She has in the past completed the Great Lake Cycle challenge and a few half marathons, but mostly likes to watch her son play rugby, attend karate lessons and take her daughter to ballet and swimming. Janice particularly likes working with young people and helping motivate them to achieve their full potential and achieve their individual dreams.
