Health & Wellbeing

To create the best learning environment, we believe it is vital that your child is healthy, happy and safe. Students will receive the care and attention befitting of one of the best international schools in Shanghai. Our Nurses and our team of teachers, tutors, caterers, counsellors, administrative staff and management are all dedicated to providing the right support at the right time.

Security Policy

Our school encourages visitors and interaction with the wider community, but the safety of our students is always paramount.

We ask all visitors to report to the school reception when arriving or leaving, and they are required to obtain authorisation to remain on school premises (except during open class and whole school events). Visitors must wear a badge while on school premises, enter via the main entrance and add their details to the visitors' book. Where possible, they should obtain authorisation and make an advance appointment. Parents assisting as volunteers should sign in before proceeding to their class.

Our school is protected by security guards and CCTV surveillance, 24 hours a day.

Air Quality Policy

The quality of the air in China is often under scrutiny in the media & very important to us at the school.

We have strict and consistent guidelines that we implement when the air quality rating is not good and we work in conjunction with other international schools in the city to agree actions for outdoor sports fixtures.

Student Health

In order to provide your child with the best possible care, we ask you to complete a health form that highlights any specific health needs or medical issues.

We keep a medical record in school records which is also updated each year.  In case of emergencies, we like to make sure we have your most up to date contact information, including that of a friend or representative who can help if needed.

If your child becomes ill, you will be notified immediately, and parents can assist the school by keeping their child at home if they are suffering from infectious illnesses.

First Aid & Medical Assistance

Many staff at our school are trained in first aid techniques, while minor illnesses and injuries will be referred to the on-site School Nurse.

Our School Nurses are on campus each school day, as well as during school weekend and afterschool events, to provide first aid and ongoing medical assistance where required. Should you need to contact the School Nurse, please email:

Allergy Policy

Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong is committed to a whole school approach to the health care and management of those members of the school community suffering from specific allergies.

The school position is not to guarantee a completely allergen free environment, rather to minimise the risk of exposure, encourage self-responsibility, and plan for an effective response to possible emergencies.
