Early Years and Primary School

Assessment in the Early Years and Primary school takes place on a continuous basis; through observation of children completing practical tasks, or working with their peers; through open ended questioning and providing opportunities for children to explain their reasoning, as well as through independent tasks they complete. There are many different ways in which teachers can collect evidence of how a child is progressing in their learning. 

  • Primary Academic

We assess our Primary students against End of Year Age Related Expectations. These expectations are broken down into a number of curriculum statements in Reading, Writing and Mathematics, which our teachers report upon three times during the academic year. Similarly, in Early Years our teachers assess our students against the Early Years Foundation Stage Development Matters framework. 

Students in the Primary school are regularly assessed through standardized assessments enabling our teachers to support a holistic judgement of students progress.
