Your child deserves the right start, at the best international school in Shanghai. We will work with you to inspire your child to reach new heights. They will receive the finest British international education, develop a contemporary world view, and conduct themselves with a grace, respect and integrity that will open doors anywhere in the world.
We know choosing the right school can be difficult and we recognise there are various choices of international schools in Shanghai. BISS puxi offers:
By every measure our students have achieved academic results that stand out in Shanghai and beyond. This is all the more impressive when we look at the range of students and the other activities they are involved in at school. We pride ourselves on being a community school, educating a wide variety of students with ability levels covering the full range. Baseline testing of cognitive ability shows a profile of students from the 10th percentile right the way up to the very top of the scale, with a mixture of native and non-native speakers of English.
Year on year our students continue to achieve outstanding results. 53% of all the grades from the 2013 IGCSE cohort were A or A*, more than double the world average of 21%, and 25% of the same year’s IB cohort achieved over 40 points, a globally acknowledged mark of true excellence, and 5 times the global figure of 5%.
Beyond the Classroom
Children of all ages benefit from extracurricular activities. They can help children to develop socially, emotionally, scholastically and physically. Activities increase a child's confidence levels and teach them responsibility and discipline.
Students will find a mix of activities including , trips, BISCAP, music and art on offer. If they choose to take part in sport, it can be as part of BISS Lions teams, representing the school, or it can be just for fun in a range of different team and individual sports. The arts are well represented, including opportunities to: dance, paint, draw, learn digital photography, sing in the choir, and play in the orchestra and various ensembles. If they want a more cerebral challenge, they’ll be able to improve their chess, develop languages further, join a science club, or take part in the Model United Nations.
School communities are not only academic environments - they are also places where children and young people learn and develop their social skills, discover what it means to be part of a society, and enhance their understanding of the wider world. Our large and thriving school community at The British International School Shanghai, Puxi is made up of students from a diverse range of countries, backgrounds and past experiences; and our learning groups are all made up of students with a huge range of skills and interests, be they academic, sporting, musical, artistic or creative. This means that the opportunities to forge friendships, play and study with others are endless, and our students are always able to find like-minded friends with whom to bond and to enjoy the school experience.
We also actively promote the participation of the whole family in school life, and so we also have a tremendously dynamic and vibrant parent organisation, country ambassadors and room parents that further enriches the school experience for our students and their families.
